ABUSE OF POWER, IMPUNITY AND CORRUPTION IN THE NIGERIAN POLICE COMMAND ABUJA: WE ARE STILL IN THE DARK ON EMEKA UGWUONYE’S CONDITION.
The Nigerian Police Abuja command failed once again to produce Barrister Emeka in court yesterday 7th December 2018. They came up with the flimsy excuse that Barr Emeka Ugwuonye’s supporters and DPA members laid siege on the roads leading to the court premises. According to them, “We do not want to engage in direct confrontation with his supporters”.
Members of DPA should remain focused and formidable in the face of this provocation by the Nigerian Police even as we explore other measure to seek for the release and justice for Barr Emeka Ugwuonye. The Police has nothing against Ugwuonye. They are punishing Ugwuonye unlawfully for the exposé on abattoir and for criticising them on the Poor, unprofessional and incompetence in handling the case of Charity Aiyedegbon (Cha -Cha).
We’ve written to various international bodies. They can’t continue to hold Barrister Ugwuonye unlawfully without charging him to court. This was what Ugwuonye accused them in the abattoir video. He accused them of detaining suspects unlawfully for months without charging them to court and they demand between #200,000 to #250,000 from the family of detained suspects before their cases are charged to court.
Make no mistake about it, the Nigerian Police has enormous power under the law and when ever this is abused, then, there’ll be problems. Remember what they did to a serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria – Dino Melaye and how they made effort to rope the Senate President into the Offa robbery case. Of course, the attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Malami wrote last week that Police has no evidence to link Bukola Saraki into the case. That is the kind of Policing we have in Nigeria.
They’ve exhausted all their options. There is nothing they have against Barr Emeka Ugwuonye. If they think they have anything against him, they should charge him to court. Court has the final say on this. They are confused right now. They received bribe from David Aiyedegbon to pursue a case of vendatta against Ugwuonye. The commissioner of Police FCT , Bala Ciroma is corrupt and criminally compromised and the O.C legal of the Nigeria Police FCT command Garki, James C Idachaba , is a criminal in police uniform and has never hidden his hatred for Ugwuonye. The IG of Police, Idris has remain silent on what is happening under his nose. A sign of illiteracy on the knowledge of laws regarding modern policing – a ‘transmissionally corrupt’ police command.

What a country
It is unfortunate that after 70yrs of United Nations Declaration of Human Rights #UDHR70, the NPF still arbitrarily arrests and detains citizens like Emmanuel Adogha and Emeka Ugwuonye contrary to the provisions of articles of the declaration. ” We refused to believe that the bank of Justice is Bank”
