THE MAJOR REASONS BEHIND THE UNLAWFUL DETENTION OF BARR. EMEKA UGWUONYE BY THE NIGERIAN POLICE ABUJA COMMAND part2
On the 15th October 2018, Barr Emeka Ugwuonye, the Harvard trained lawyer released an introductory video, serving as his eye witness account about the rot in the Police detention camp known as ‘Abattoir’. He titled it. “The mind bugling story about ABATTOIR. A story that stabs on the human psyche and on our collective sanity”
In the video, he revealed that. ” the Nigerian Police is involved in multiple crimes against humanity. Everything happened: human beings slaughtered, abused and detained unlawfully for years without access to court. Those people are locked up there and detained because they could not afford (#200,000) naira which is the minimum you have to pay in order for the Police to charge your case to court and they starve the inmates so that they’ll be desperate enough to leave”
“The more they are starved, the more desperate their families will be ready to pay so their cases will be charged to court. Extra judicial killing is so rampant and it’s structured that way, that is why the suspects are not accounted for. That is why, they have no record . They run this prison, extort money from people and kill people.
The Nigerian Police torture people by tying rubber around their arms until they paralyse their arms. Abattoir is the secret prison run by the Nigerian Police. Ladies and gentleman, I’m going to tell you more about Abattoir”. —– Barr Emeka Ugwuonye.
Those were the exact words of Ugwuonye in the video. The Abuja Police command became more enraged and livid in anger, that they vowed to crush Emeka. They insisted on teaching him a bitter lesson of his life for having the gut to speak out against the Police.
On the 16th of October, they arrested him in Abuja and arraigned him on the 18th October 2018 for fabricating false evidence, videotaping, and inciting public disturbance among other charges. The Police prosecutor opposed bail. The Magistrate ordered Ugwuonye to be remanded in Prison custody as he requested for written application of bail instead of the usual Oral application. After 7 days in Keffi Prison, Ugwuonye was granted bail.
The Police were still not satisfied, they hatched fresh plans again to have him arrested as he steps out of the courtroom. The Prison Warders got wind of the plans, they hurriedly sneaked him back to Keffi Prisons even though he had fulfilled his bail conditions. The Police trailed him back to the Prisons and packed their Van at the Prison gate till midnight. That was how the rumour from Ugwuonye’s detractors gained tractions at the time that he escaped from the prison. The Police passes information and reveals every of their steps against Ugwuonye to one Daniel Obiora (Police Informant ) who works for David Aiyedegbon. As he gets information from the Police, he passes it over to Emeka’s detractors who then publish it on their Facebook page to rejoice and celebrate.
On the 14th November 2018, the Police dropped all charges against Emeka before the Magistrate court and again filed same charges at the Federal high court — ( this is called recycling of charges by the police to punish Emeka)
They are determined to destroy Emeka and silenced DPA as they surprisedly turned round to file a separate charge of ” Conspiracy to commit murder and armed robbery” against Barr Emeka Ugwuonye. They charged him along with the two accused persons in Police detention for killing Cha-Cha. The same woman Ugwuonye had been fighting for her case since 2016.
On Monday 26th November, Abuja Police command arrested Barr Emeka on the order of Bala Ciroma, the Commissioner of Police FCT ABUJA and O.C legal, James. C Idachaba. He has since been detained unlawfully in Abattoir. This time, they refused to take him to court because on four different occasions, court granted him bail. They decided to detain him by themselves in violations of his human rights. Today marks two weeks of his total locked down in Abattoir.
The Police may be planning to assassinate him. We call on all well meaning Nigerians, civil liberty organizations, NBA, human rights watch, Amnesty International etc to save the life of Barr Emeka Ugwuonye and to raise up against the Police impunity and abuse of Power. They are pursuing personal vendetta against Emeka. We suspect that the Police have been induced. They should take him to court if they have anything against him or release him unconditionally.

The Nigerian Police have shown that they are not to be trusted. They are playing God but that is not the end of the road.
