The Power of Conviction
The power of conviction means definiteness of purpose backed by burning desire for it’s Fulfilment. The power of conviction is tremendous. Some people possess the visual clarity and energy of an Eagle to focus on what they want and believe.
If you are keenly interested in studying the strange power which gives potency to conviction, look at the life of Emeka Ugwuonye, Esquire, the founder of Due Process Advocates (DPA). In him was the concept — Conviction perfectly personified. Within the short period I’ve known him, I’ve watched him weathered so many great storms and overcame gigantic obstacles by no other power than the power of his convictions. Like the mystical Phoenix bird, he has always emerged from the ashes of every controversy with renewed vigour and greater success.
A strong motive and will-power enable him at every point in time to surmount many opposition and difficulties with ease. Those are the mystical power I notice in him which has given him the capacity to master difficulties and controversies.
Ugwuonye has strong believe in the vision he has for DPA that it appears to be ‘driving him crazy’ —Apologies to Rochas Okorocha. Sometimes, he stays awake for three nights without a ‘ single sleep’. At any minute you reach him, he response with the speed of lightening. He does not go to bed till he is certain every DPA member had gone to sleep.
The world abounds with the chronicles of great men with enormous Power of conviction —Mahatma Gandhi; Changed Indian politics forever and inspired global civil rights movements through his practice of non-violence disobedience. Nelson Mandela suffered great misfortune in Prison; he lost his son, his mother died and his beautiful wife appeared to have defiled the matrimonial bed. But he stayed strong and true to his convictions.
