The Due Process Advocates (DPA) is an enterprise founded on the ideals of justice, equity and fairness. We aim to expand and improve the quality of access to justice in all parts of the world where there is a proven need and opportunity for our members to make an impact. By widening access to justice, we improve the quality of life for millions all over the world.
Our key mission is to promote major factors that enhance access to justice, such as improved knowledge of the law, better and more effective enforcement of legal rights and improving efficiency and effectiveness in the administration of justice.
Key target areas of our operation include the following:
Also, in addition to awareness creation, DPA hosts a number of initiatives, such as:
(1) Prevention of domestic violence and abuse of children.
(2) Prevention of human trafficking and slavery.
(3) Protection of human rights from abuse.
(4) Prevention of jungle justice.
(5) Provision of legal aid and do-it-yourself legal assistance to the general public.
(6) Provision of alternative dispute and conflict resolution services to the general public.
(7) Provision of career development and entrepreneurship assistance to the general public.
(8) Maintenance of centers for public interest litigation.
(9) Maintenance of a center for professional volunteerism.
To facilitate access to justice for all, DPA established a mutual legal-cost support program whereby members contribute modest amounts toward a collective costing of access to justice and legal defense aid.
Our Rules Regulations & Guidelines
In Nigeria, particularly, many have been denied access to justice simply because they cannot afford it. This has resulted in a dangerous dichotomy in the legal system, further giving rise to the belief that there are two legal systems existing side by side – one legal system for the poor and another legal system for the rich. DPA aims to have a unified system of justice where all shall be equal before the law.
