RULES GOVERNING DPA SOCIAL MEDIA FORUMS
If you joined any of our social media and internet forums, I am pleased to welcome you to our great organization, The Due Process Advocates (DPA). Please take a minute or two to acquaint yourself with our rules and regulation in order to enjoy your membership.
GROUP RULES:
(1)(A) PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY: Each person is solely responsible for his or her own postings and comments. While there is a common group interest in due process of law, there is no group responsibility for comments and postings made by members. This applies to all forms of responsibility including legal liabilities for one’s statements and publications.
(B) We require personal identifying profile picture if you wish to participate in the group discussions.
(2) STANDARDS OF CIVILITY: Members shall observe civility in all communications either in general or between members. Disagreements must be handled with dignity and respect to those we disagree with.
(3) LAW, JUSTICE AND DUE PROCESS: Members are encouraged to focus their postings on subject maters that concern these core themes. In this group, we shall focus on law, governments and institution as they pertain to law and justice and such other issues as the forum administrators may determine from time to time.
(4) VALUE AND BENEFIT TO MEMBERS: This group aspires to confer tangible benefits to members. We come from diverse backgrounds, age brackets and experiences. Many of us could be of help to others and vice versa. We shall simply help and learn from each other wherever possible and reasonable, and promote a healthy community based on friendship, peace, human development and equality under the law.
(5) THE RIGHT TO POST MESSAGES: All members shall have the right to post messages. But admin group may have to approve a posting. For this purpose, we appointed a number of people as administrators and moderators.
(6) NEW MEMBERS: We welcome all people without discrimination. And we encourage members to recommend and subscribe those of their friends whom they feel would be suitable members of this group’s forums.
(7) GLOBAL VALUES AND PERSPECTIVES: Regardless of the nationality of our members, DPA’s goal is to cater to the interest of members from all over the world and to have a truly universal or global community. The more diverse the membership of the group the greater the opportunity for us to learn from one another and to broaden our knowledge of the larger world. This is intended to be a truly quality group of refined people.
(8) GROUP EVENTS: Members shall hold many events – parties, seminars, social activities, etc. – in various parts of the world as the opportunity would exist. The idea is to accept both our real and virtual worlds as viable social mediums for human interaction.
WE ARE A COMPASSIONATE GROUP OF PEOPLE:
We encourage our members to offer solutions, and not to judge, insult and abuse others, particularly those who are brave enough to bring their problems to the attention of our group.
We are dealing with issues of law and administration of justice, human rights and rule of law. We encourage our members to focus their recommendations on those standards that are scientifically plausible.
We encourage our members to read and understand a post before they comment or react to such post. If you don’t understand the post or the issue at stake, ask questions in a polite manner. If you don’t have a solution to a problem, just move on.
RULE AGAINST DISCRIMINATION`
DPA abhors discrimination in all forms. So, no member shall be discriminated against on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and national origin. We believe in the equality of all human beings.
DPA BENEFITS AND COVERAGE FOR MEMBERS
Registered members of DPA stand to enjoy the following:
(1) Every benefit that non-registered members enjoy.
(2) 100% free legal services in all cases involving arrest and detention by either the police or any other law enforcement agency of Nigeria. (DPA will challenge the arrest and try to get you out of detention free of charge).
(3) Any harassment or intimidation by the police or any law enforcement agency (DPA will intervene to enforce your fundamental rights).
(4) Any criminal prosecution or trial (DPA will provide you competent lawyers till the end of trial free of charge).
(5) In domestic violence cases, DPA will provide 100% free services to stop the violence.
(6) In any family law matter – divorce, custody, property distribution, child support, etc, DPA will provide registered members 50% free legal services.
(7) In Landlord-tenant (residential tenancy) cases, DPA will provide 50% free legal services.
(8) In Labor law cases, DPA provide 50% free legal services.
(9) In all other cases, a registered member is entitled to 25% discount on legal services.
(10) A registered member of DPA is entitled to free consultation on all legal matters.
Non-registered members of DPA are entitled to the following benefits:
(1) The right to submit article for posting on our group wall or website.
(2) The right to participate in discussions on our forum.
(3) One time right to free consultation on any legal matter of choice.
(4) A non-registered member is entitled to 25% discount on all legal matters without exception.
There is an important caveat. There is a two-month waiting period from the day you make your payment and the day you can access the benefits (for registered members).
RIGHTS OF THE ADMINISTRATOR:
The Administrator of any DPA forum has the right to remove any member for any reason. Every member of DPA using the DPA social media platforms understands and agrees that he or she shall not challenge the right of the Administrator to remove him or her, or to mute him or for any length of period or to delete his or her comment or post on DPA platform, or decline to approve his or her application or request to join the group or to make any post on the platform.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS:
The intellectual property rights of any content posted originally on DPA platforms belong to DPA, and not the person that made the post, except where such a persona obtained a written approval to the contrary.
